When the moon hits your your eye like a big pizza pie...

Well, it's finally happening...
On Oct. 16th Shaun and I are packing our bags (one suitcase each to be exact) and traveling to Italy!

The wait has been long. I've always wanted to travel to a far off land and experience a country rich in history and culture. Italy is said to be a magnificent country that is sure to provide endless displays of "awe inspiring" art, food & sights. Italy is also the home of such places as PRADA and Armani (I may have to do some window shopping while I'm there.. A girl can dream right *wink!*)..

At the recommendation of my Dad, I've decided to document our trip with photos and short antidotes of our trip. Most importantly, "I will not get sick.. I will not get sick...I will not...!"

We worked very hard for over a year saving our virtually worthless dollars to make this trip happen  and intend to spend every sent we bring!

First Stop Rome!
Looking forward to visiting the Jewish Ghetto, where one of the oldest synagogues still stands.

Second Stop Sienna!
An ancient walled city...

Last Stop Florence!

More details to come... Stay tuned...

I wish I had documented our trip. It was one of the most amazing times of our lives.. We loved the sights, smells and tastes of Italy and we can't wait to go back some day.. In Rome, everywhere you look there is history, art and depth.. It is the most thrilling place we've ever been.. We enjoyed almost every second of our trip. Now it's time for us to start saving our pennies so we can go back.. Next time I'm going to travel with a journal and update our blog when we return with all of the details..  And most importantly, I DID NOT GET SICK...

If you ever have a chance to visit this beautiful country, DO!!

I will add more photos of our trip soon, just in case someone out there cares.. Meanwhile, I'm in the process of cooking new and exotic (at least to me and my husband) dishes.. The last two weeks have filled our kitchen with the smells and tastes of Persia.. It's been challenging, fun and filling... I'm hoping to create a French standard, Potato Leek Soup next week.. The only real hiccup in my plan is that amount of calories all of this new dishes are going to add to my every growing waste line.. There is a line in the movie Julie & Julia that really struck me (and this is only from the commercials - I've yet to see the film).. Anyway, it's when Julia Child tells her husband how good she is at eating and of course he agrees, and then she says something to the effect of, "See how I'm growing.. already." I think that line is very fitting for my life right now :)...

I'll keep you posted on our dinner menus and I'll post a few of our Italy photos as well.. Until next time.. Keep the glass at least 1/2 full for me.. :)
